Weld (William Gordon) House is built.

1799

Built for Capt. William Gordon Weld, it is located near today’s 310 South Street (40 Asticou Road). The house is purchased by Edward Peters as a summer residence in 1829 and the estate expanded in in the 1840s. Subsequently the home of Andrew Peters, the house is demolished and the land is sold in 1957 to James Martin, who develops it for small, single-family homes in 1958.
